I've always been a little hesitant to give out wire transfer instructions to customers. It has bank account information, swift code, etc... but this is all necessary information to send our customers who wish to pay via wire transfer. What just got me extra concerned is a very bogus looking email where a person simply asked for our wire transfer information before discussing the contents of his order. Anyone have any thoughts on this or experiences?|||It is common practice to give out wire transfer information to CUSTOMERS. Not just routine inquiries. Normally this information would be printed on an invoice or written into a contract for work done.
Unless you are dealing with a known customer refuse to give out banking information.|||You don't ever need to give out that information before you issue an invoice. And I would do a credit check on any new customer before doing business with them - or at least have them fill out a credit application even if you don't do a check. That will weed out most scammers who won't bother to respond
