So, my computer doesn't boot (it gets stuck in the Vista loading screen like forever). Is there a way to transfer any files from the hard disk to a USB or some other type of media (mem card)? Note, that I can't get into windows. My comp stays in the Vista boot screen (black screen with the status bar).|||Do you have a Vista Disk. If so go into the bios and change the boot order to Dvd first, hard drive second. You'll have to hunt around in the bios for the boot order, they are all a little different. Boot from the Vista disk and then do a Vista repair (no info will be lost)
Are you an overclocker..the load screen forever problem happens frequently will an unstable OC.
If this doesn't work or you don't have the disk, you may have to pull the hard drive, put it in a working machine as a slave and try to pull your info off that way. Good Luck
Pat|||put the hard drive in another computer|||use a bootable cd that contains a portable os like some linux versions and u can transfer the data to whatever media you want|||remove the hdd, alter the jumper so that the hdd becomes a slave.
If its not obvious, you can find the info in google.
Go to a working computer, disconnect the cdrom and temporary connect the hdd to the cd rom cable and power supply, boot up, find the hdd in my computer copy yuor files, shutdown, remove the hdd to the real recycle bin, the one outside.
